Heather R. Williams, MD, F.A.C.O.G.

Dr. Heather R. Williams joined Riverwalk OB/GYN, PLLC in January 2007 following the completion of an eight-year service obligation with the United States Army. Dr. Williams was raised in New York, however attended the University of Miami in Miami Florida. While at the University, she received a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology and Medical Degree in 1994, all on Military Scholarship. She remained at the University for her Residency Training in Obstetrics and Gynecology and entered Active Duty Service upon completion of residency in 1998.

Dr. Williams is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is currently a member of the Medical Staff at the Nix Healthcare System, Baptist Healthcare, and Christus Santa Rosa Hospital. Dr. Williams is also a member of Texas Medical Association, Texas Association Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Bexar County Medical Society, San Antonio OB-GYN Society, American Association of Gynecological Laparoscopists and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Dr. Williams' distinguished military career began in Fort Polk, LA where she served as the Chief of OB/GYN. The final five years of her career was dedicated to service within the Residency Training Program and Department of OB/GYN at Brooke Army Medical Center and Wilford Hall, here in San Antonio. While at BAMC and WHMC, Dr. Williams held many leadership positions within the Department, culminating in the position of Chief of Gynecologic Services. Her main focus, however, during her time of service was as an Attending physician within the Residency program. Dr. Williams was honored by the residents in 2006 by being recognized as the Council on Resident Education Teacher of the year.

Dr. Williams is married to Dr. Mark Barnhardt, a pediatrician, who continues to serve the Military community as a contract physician at Brooke Army Medical Center. They are the proud parents of a young son, Colin, and a dog, cat and bird. Dr. Williams enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, running outside, and keeping track of the NY Jets during football season. She is also an active member of her church and enjoys listening to Contemporary Christian Music.
